1990s: Eco-pioneering

When Volker Kreiter founded his company in 1995, topics related to ecological action and sustainable business were marginal issues in society. Serious environmental commitment in politics, society and business was rarely present. After all: The Green Dot as a label for recyclable packaging had already been invented. Nevertheless, the big step to implementation was difficult for nice sustainability ideas.

  • In its early years, the karopack „packing revolution“ was repeatedly ridiculed. Why change packaging processes that work? Mr Kreiter’s response: Because our green cycle with the intelligent recycling idea creates ecological AND economic incentives. He persistently dispelled the prejudice that sustainability is bad for business. The contrary is true!

2020s: 11 locations in Germany

Today the understanding of ecological sustainability has arrived in the midst of our society. There are still gaps in many places between lip service and serious commitment. Nevertheless: A lot has happened in the last few years. The insight that we live in a world with limited resources has taken hold. New ideas and strategies are needed. One of the most important strategies of our time is the circular economy.

  • As orders increased, karopack expanded its capacities. Decentralised was the motto – the routes to the customer were gradually shortened. In the meantime, karopack has eleven locations where packaging cushions for its customers are produced
  • Since 1999, karopack has been offering an interesting alternative to customers with very large stocks of used cardboard: You can buy packaging cushion machines and produce packaging cushions yourself.

The future lies in sustainable packaging solutions. Let's go for it!

Since 2018, karopack has doubled its turnover. Currently, there is so much movement on this topic that the company can hardly keep up with the expansion of capacity for the production of sustainable packaging material.
Expansion into neighbouring countries is currently planned, specifically into Austria and Switzerland. October 2020 likewise saw the installation of the first cardboard recycling facility in the United States, marking the start for karopack in the US.
Of course, even companies such as karopack can always act more sustainably. We are open to good packaging concepts that combine sustainable and economic action. Let’s do this together!
